WHAT SHOULD YOU LOOK FOR IN A TRAVEL NURSING FIRM?

We talk a lot in this blog about your options as a travel nurse, and it’s true, you can travel anywhere in the country depending on the assignment you accept. But this is also true: You have options when it comes to choosing which travel nurse staffing firm you’ll work with — a lot of them, in fact. So how do you choose which one is best for you? It's 2017, staffing firms have been around long enough to evolve to be great at finding what works best for the traveler. what does the modern-day staffing firm look like? What do I want out of the partner I choose?

From here we could bore you with a litany of information about OneStaff Medical, but that’s not really our style. Instead we reached out to several veteran travel nurses to learn more about what they look for in a travel nurse staffing firm. Read on and see how many of these qualities interest you.

* Sized right. Staffing firms come in all shapes and sizes, and when it comes to finding the perfect firm for you, many nurses say smaller is better. Smaller firms are more nimble and flexible. They are truly committed to the partnership that should exist between a travel nurse and their staffing firm and they’ll do what it takes to keep you happy. Small companies also operate with low overhead, ensuring the money they spend goes to services that benefit you.

* Big network. While the company being small itself has its benefits, it had better have a large network. A firm’s network is your menu for finding the best travel assignments. Look for a company with network connections in as many areas as possible, particularly those you’re interested in.

* Open communication. Think of your staffing firm as your agent. It’s their job to find the best opportunities to match your talents, and you deserve a firm that is responsive to you 24/7/365 and willing to earn your trust. Set your expectations and look for a firm that can follow them.
