It’s no secret that California is full of travel nursing job opportunities. Who doesn’t want a get-a-way to California’s mixture of beaches, mountains, vineyards and outdoor vibe, but what about some “hidden” Midwestern vibes? Those in the “know” will tell you, in the heart of the Midwest lives one of the country’s top destinations for summer time adventures. Where, you ask? Chicago. Chi-town. The Windy City. City of Broad Shoulders…shall we go on?
Located in the Midwest, and well-known fir it’s torturous freezing cold winters, and blistering winter lake winds, it’s actually well-known for being a top travel destination in the summer. Nonstop live concerts, weekly block parties, the beach (and great beach volleyball action), the open-concept and/or rooftop bars and food…oh, the food. Don’t get us started. Chicago has to be one of the top destinations for those self-proclaimed Travel Nurse foodies. From the infamous deep dish pizza to the Italian Beef sandwiches, and plenty of high-end dining or comfort food options, you can’t go wrong as a foodie in Chicago (a few insights and options here).
Festival season? No city compares to Chicago and summer festival season, that’s our biased opinion. LOL From Chicago Blues Festival, to Lollapalooza and everything in between, if you are a music fan, Chicago’s summer also has you covered. The outdoor venues make the city an ideal spot for watching your favorite bands. Soak in the tunes, with a scenic backdrop of the big city, and cold beverage in your hands. That’s good living. Finally, you can’t talk Chicago, without talking sports. Take in a Cubs game, or just experience the grandeur that is Wrigleyville on gameday (check this little list of spots out)! You’ll never see so much hustle and bustle in a neighborhood, like you will on gamedays in Wrigleyville. It’s something you have to see to believe, and it’s everything we love about a city like Chicago.
