Whatever you’re truly passionate about, it seems there’s always a perfect time of year to celebrate it. As we type this we are just passing May 4 or, as it is better known to the millions of Star Wars fans out there: May the fourth be with you. We get it and yes, we’ve wondered how much more interesting life would be if we were Jedi knights.
At the same time, however, our interest in this time of year isn't focused solely on space operas, it’s on the event that begins two days later and celebrates the people we work for every single day. Those whose tireless efforts don’t need the Force to be amazing.
Yes, this is the time of year when we come together to celebrate National Nurses Week — May 6 to May 12. May 6 is also National Nurses Day, while May 12 is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, one of the pivotal pioneers of modern nursing. The week was first observed in 1954 to recognize the 100-year anniversary of Nightingale’s service during the Crimean War.
Celebrating our modern heroes
Nightingale’s service during the Crimean War has long passed, but we see her spirit living on in the tireless efforts of the nurses we work with every day, and that’s what makes us so excited about National Nurses Week. This is our chance to say thank you to all of you. Thank you for your tireless efforts, thank you for the care and compassion you bring to your patients and thank you for your willingness to leave your homes behind and travel around the country to assist those who need you most. We are deeply thankful for your efforts and we hope everyone around you recognizes your selfless acts as well.
Thank you for everything you do in the name of nursing. This week is for you and you deserve it and more. At Onestaff Medical we consider ourselves fortunate to work with each and every one of you, and we look forward to celebrating National Nurses Week with you, this year and every year to come.
